Spring Collections 2010

Although I am suppose to be working on any number of other things right now, I've instead been using my time looking at the spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear collections (basically I am being super productive). And I think I might be in love (from the top down, Spring 2010, Proenza Schouler, Balmain, Vena Cava). At the moment, I am utterly obsessed with military coats, and Balmain's newest collection is only serving to fuel this desire.

I just put the finishing touches on my resume, so fingers crossed I'll find an internship (hopefully somewhere in NYC).

Beginnings

Hello.
My name is Michael. I am currently a student at a liberal arts college. And despite my own common sense and my parents' warnings, I am an English major with a concentration in creative writing. Basically, I don't plan on having a job after I graduate. This is a problem, for two main reasons:
  1. I have a voracious appetite for designer clothing (and boots). Some people call this being materialistic, I prefer to think of it in terms of its euphemisms like chic, or fashion savvy, or fabulous.
  2. I want to eat.
Unfortunately for me, the way I want to live doesn't seem to coincide with my career possibilities. Do-you-want-fries-with-that and Paper-or-plastic can't really support my Phillip Lim obsession. So I have four options as I see it:
  1. Stripping
  2. Marry well, very well, like Intolerable Cruelty well, like rich old man well.
  3. Hope to god that they let me switch my English major to an Econ one.
  4. Pray that my string of internships for some (literally) awesome reason pan out into a steady job.
I am leaning towards option 4. This blog hopefully will prove that despite the economic recession there just might be a place for a Isabel-Marant-loving-English-major.
